U.S. mustn't shy from wars in Iraq and beyond

The Plain Dealer's May 13 editorial "Evil abroad" bears the truth, unlike many Plain Dealer readers who show blind ignorance and total lack of understanding of the danger America faces.
As evidence, I cite the naive words of Gary L. Jones (Letters, May 11), who puts credence in Michael Moore's fantasy film meant to support Moore's treasonous babble. A second example is M. John Laituri's letter of the same day titled "Best-sellers expose inept White House," which lists several books whose authors grind the proverbial self-serving ax. If Americans are using this drivel as their source of "truth," we may be sweeping camel dung along Euclid Avenue in the not-too-distant future.
The evidence mounts in a litany of letters to the editor on May 9, under the headline "Prisoner abuse: awful or trivial?" Of course, it's awful to see, and we should not trivialize it, but folks, let's get some perspective. Don't follow Chappaquiddick philanderer Ted Kennedy, whose treasonous words likened George W. Bush to Saddam Hussein.
America must stay the course. Syria, Iran and North Korea may be next if we are to sleep easy. To finalize this Iraqi stew, I suggest that we may have to turn the sand to glass in Fallujah, Najaf, etc., etc. A needed reminder from history: World War II was won because we broke the will of the people with Dresden (relentless bombings in Germany) and Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, which saved a million of our soldiers' lives.
